A wonderful place to hang around.
After sunset it might feel a bit uncomfortable, however I did not feel particularly unsafe at any point.

Great history and narrow lovely streets to walk through.
Great history and narrow lovely streets to walk through. Visit to Popes old digs and the old bridge were great. Natural museum was free, however it took only 15 minutes to see the collection. Restaurant’s and food there were great as well. Could do without all of the beggars on the street, some who were obviously drunk and quite aggressive constantly asking us for money. Carry some coins just in case you get cornered and feel threatened as it’s the easiest way out of it without risk.

Avignon once was a beautiful old town, rich in history and lovely to walk around is. These days, however, the city is horribly dilapidated; at least two out of every ten shops is closed forever and their storefronts are covered in graffiti.
Another deception is the fact that it is very hard to find affordable restaurants serving French food, since the centre of town is filled with tourist traps serving pizza's, couscous and similar imported dishes.

Beautiful, historic, walkable city, with numerous plazas, charming narrow streets and great restaurants. Popes palace and surrounding area was spectacular, with stunning views of the surrounding landscape. Great base location for day trips to other nearby interesting towns like Arles and Orange and others.
We loved the fact that the accommodation was more like a home rather than a hotel room. There were lots of personal touches, the space was amazing as was the terrace with the jacuzzi. We also loved that the host was always available if needed and continued to ask if he could pick us up and take us somewhere or assist with anything we needed. Overall it was an amazing experience and we were so glad we did not choose a hotel for our 3 night stay in Avignon. I would recommend anyone to stay here - this will be one of our stays to remember!
We had a wonderful stay in this beautiful hotel with a lovely garden right in the ancient center of Avignon. Yves made us feel at home in his nicely furnished house and we had a spacious room with a nicely decorated bathroom, all very clean and tasteful. We enjoyed the extended French breakfast with cheese and ham and fruits. If it hadn't rained we would have sat in the beautiful garden for breakfast, but we enjoyed the pretty dining room as well. We will surely come back on another trip through France.
Coming from the Canary Islands it was the perfect Hotel for a overnight stay to see the highlights of this beautiful and vivid old town. The hotel is excellent situated for the visit of the papal palace and gardens as well to the famous bridge of Avignon. The parking possibilities made it even easier.
it was the best choice to stay !
The staff was very helpful and friendly, the rooms space everything very clean, a beautiful large showerplace! Everything just perfect !
The porporty is a 8 min drive from downtown avignon. Our host gave a lot of good adivces on the restaurants, car parks, and attractons nearby. He offered to help us book a restaurant and it was amazing. Our host Matt is very friendly, respectful, and speaks very good English. He makes breakfast fresh frrom scratch every morning. We could not have asked for a better host or a better estate to stay in south of France. The three dogs onsite are cute and easy to interact.
We were so lucky to get a room 'on the roof'! The door was a French window gong out to the terrace that also served as a bar. It felt like a private garden. Near reception there was also sitting places in the inner yard that contributed to the cozy atmosphere. The hotel itself is situated on the main street between the Central Station and Palais des Papes, so everything was close. Last time in Avignon we stayed in a different hotel, but I loved this room much better.
Hotel within the old town area of Avignon with (limited) parking. Very well taken care of location with friendly and helpful staff. The hotel has a very pretty patio where you can have breakfast, coffee or hide from the hot afternoon sun. The main touristic sights of Avignon can be reached by foot (about 18 min to the Popes Palace) and there is a vivid bar scene just around the corner.
Vincent was a great host. First, he met me on bicycle when I got lost a bit and helped to find a way and park my car (too large for old city). Then he showed the options to spend several hours we had to get the best out of Avignon. It helped a lot! Room was really charming and special (huge selection of books on history - Local, France, World)
I love stayin at Hotel d’Angleterre! It was a lovely and peaceful stay thanks to the family hotel. It is in the city centre yet away from chaos. The terrace is a beautiful place to enjoy morning breakfasts. Also the staff is super helpful and kind! I hope to go back to Avignon and stay there again as soon as possible! ☁️🤍
Good location, very easy to find when walking from the station. Extremely pleasant and welcoming staff - the best I've encountered in France. Clean, spacious, modern room with plenty of hooks, shelves, bathroom had a lovely, deep bath. Good breakfast and kettle/m/w available in common area.
The hotel is well located for both a visit of historic Avignon and its close surroundings in the Provence. You can see that it has been updated and enovated not too long ago. The staff was very friendly, our room (family room) was really big and confortable. Breakfast was nice.
This was the best place to stay on our trip to France. The owners were friendly and went above and beyond. The house was amazing. Would highly recommend staying there. Nearby recommendations for dinner were great and walkable.
Lovely owner who accommodated us very well. Lovely rooms, quaint decoration, thick curtains that kept the light out well. We stayed for two additional nights as we loved the hotel and Avignon.
Lovely boutique hotel right in the middle of beautiful Avignon with an easy walk to everything. Wonderful room and delightful, friendly, knowledgeable owner. Highly recommend!
Very cute hotel in the middle of the city of Avignon. The staff was very friendly and welcoming and the hotel was just as expected. The room was clean and comfortable.
Cute little apartment, very clean. Everything you really need is there. No luxury, just what you expect. Good for one or two nights, maybe rather young travelers.
